I’ve never been able to fully explain why it’s silver.
Since starting yoreh, people ask why we don’t work with another metal. And the honest answer was always: it just had to be silver. The weight of it. The way it warms up on your skin. The way it remembers.. every scratch, every year you wear it. I was obsessed with the material long before I could say why.
The photograph
This summer I went home to Germany. My mom and I were going through some old family photo albums, and she pulled out a picture I’d never seen: my great grandfather, standing at his workbench, torch in hand, two silver vessels in front of him.

He ran a silver factory called "Leins Silber" in Germany in the early 1920s. Cutlery, cups, plates. A whole workshop built around the same material I’ve built my life around, and I had no idea... This one photograph is all that’s left of it.
A hundred years apart
I don’t think it’s mystical. But I don’t think it’s nothing either. A hundred years apart, the same metal, the same kind of bench, the same looking-down-at-your-hands concentration. I’ve stood like that watching our silversmiths work, and apparently he stood like that in Germany a century before anyone thought of me.

He made things meant to be used every day and passed down. That’s exactly what we try to make now.
Every yoreh piece is handcrafted in 925 silver, made to be worn daily and kept. Turns out that wasn’t just a brand decision. It was already in the family.
Whole lotta love,
Fin
